## Goal Determine ownership of deliverables and retained intellectual property. ## Detection cues Locate hereby assigns, work made for hire, ownership of deliverables and intellectual property wording. ## Review steps 1. Identify assignor, assignee and the covered work. 2. Separate pre-existing material from newly created deliverables. 3. Check license-backs, third-party material and timing or payment conditions. ## Risk signals Flag transfers of background rights or a missing license needed to use retained components. ## Required evidence Quote the assignment and any background-rights or license exceptions. ## Recommendation rules Recommend explicit ownership boundaries and necessary licenses only where the text supports a gap. ## Failure and uncertainty Do not equate a license with ownership; undefined deliverables require an uncertainty statement.
