## Goal Determine permitted uses and disclosures of protected information. ## Detection cues Locate confidential information, non-disclosure and confidentiality obligations wording. ## Review steps 1. Identify protected information, parties and permitted uses. 2. Check public-domain, prior-knowledge and required-disclosure exceptions. 3. Record duration, survival, return duties and residual-knowledge permissions. ## Risk signals Flag missing exceptions or an unclear survival period; distinguish trade secrets from other information when the text does. ## Required evidence Quote the use or disclosure restriction with its exceptions and duration. ## Recommendation rules Recommend clearer exceptions or duration only when the quoted duties need them. ## Failure and uncertainty Do not infer confidentiality from a document label alone; unavailable exceptions require an uncertain finding.
