# Synthesize a specification

Use the conversation and existing codebase understanding to describe the problem, desired behavior, decisions, acceptance criteria, and exclusions. Inspect relevant code or domain records only to resolve a specific gap. Distinguish unresolved decisions from agreed requirements.

Use [template.md](template.md) when a full specification is needed. Prefer established public interfaces for acceptance checks; record the inferred interface instead of requiring a separate confirmation when the evidence is clear.

Produce a local specification by default, using the repository's document convention. For explicitly authorized tracker publication, consult its configured operations, publish the prepared spec, and apply the configured readiness label only when the criteria are met. Missing tracker setup does not block local drafting. Do not re-interview the user about decisions already supplied.
