# Capture a learning

Start from evidence produced by real work. Name the task, observed result, and conditions that mattered.

Choose the smallest durable home:

- Add a dated note under `learnings/` when the evidence may need more confirmation or explains why a change was made.
- Patch an existing skill when the result should change how the next matching task is performed.
- Add context when the fact is stable background rather than a procedure.

Keep the evidence in the learning note and the instruction in the skill. Link them instead of copying the same explanation into both.

For a changed skill, set `metadata.updated` to today's date. Run `./bin/build-index`, then `./bin/check`. Report the files changed and the evidence behind the change.
