Works with Claude Code, Claude apps, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, VS Code, OpenCode, Goose, Windsurf. Read the repository before you give any tool access to your data.

npx agentmarket install skill/nocksock-holistic-view

Asks which of your tools to add it to (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, Claude Desktop) and shows the change first. See https://agentmart.dev/cli.

# Hollistic View

You'll find that you'll often create new, functions with high complexity for something that should likely be a simple task.
Consider how the requested feature fits into the application as a whole.
Split the feature into smaller tasks, that fit into the domain model of the application.

When it seems like you're implementing some basic, fundamental functions reconsider if there's a more idiomatic or pragmatic approach.
Generally you shouldn't need to implement type-conversion functions.
If you find youself in such a situation, list alternatives for the present ecosystem and potentially defer this task to an expert sub-agent.

Before you implement the key-function of the feature, list smaller features that this feature can be composed of.

For example in elixir codebase:

dont
```
def get_some_data_from_db() do
    result = form "table"
     #  long query
     #  long query
     #  long query
     #  long query
    if result do # whatever condition
        # some
        if foo do
            # super deeply nested code
        end
    end
end
```

do:

```
def get_some_data_from_db() do
    # build query
    |> do_something_with_data()
    |> then(do_something_more_with_it)
end
```

Your threshold should be about 8 lines of code and 2 levels of nesting to extract business logic into a function instead.
Try to anticipate what the overall goal of this feature is.

## Reflect

Do a web research for the feature on best practices etc and existing solutions.
Consider roughly 3 alternative approaches that might get the user to the same goal.

Rate each alternative:
    idiomatic 1-10 (how much this is inline with language best practices)
    complexity 1-10 (how many files and function would be required to modify)
    pragmatism 1-10 (gains vs complexity vs trade-offs)

If one of these seems like the better approach, suggest it to the user and ask the user about how to proceed.
If the goal is not clear, use skill like brainstorming to understand the goal better.
