# Month close and next-month funding

**Tools:** `get_budget`, `modify_budget`

## Steps

1. Resolve `plan_id` (see [setup](../README.md#setup)).
2. Call `get_budget` `view="overview"` for the Ready to Assign trend and to
   identify the closing/upcoming month.
3. Call `get_budget` `view="month"` for the closing month: note overspent
   categories and large leftover balances.
4. Call `get_budget` `view="category"` for goal fields (`goal_target`,
`goal_percentage_complete`, `goal_under_funded`) and flag any behind schedule.
5. Call `get_budget` `view="month"` for the upcoming month to see available Ready
   to Assign.
6. Propose next month's allocation per category (based on last month's activity
and goal catch-up needs) as `category | last month spent | proposed | goal
status`. Flag if the total exceeds Ready to Assign.
7. On confirmation, call `modify_budget` `action="set_amount"` per category for
   the upcoming month.
8. Re-fetch `get_budget` `view="overview"` to confirm Ready to Assign isn't
   negative.

## Done when

Every active category has an intentional allocation for the new month and Ready
to Assign isn't unintentionally negative.
