# Tasks

## Tools

- `list_tasks` — filter `OPEN` | `IN_PROGRESS` | `RESOLVED` | `CLOSED`
- `create_task` — standalone (`subject` required; optional summary, urgency, assigneeId, topics)
- `create_task_from_mail_thread` — `threadId`; returns the existing task when the thread already has one

## Procedure

1. Prefer `create_task_from_mail_thread` when the work is a mail thread.
2. Use `create_task` for work that did not start as mail.
3. Omit `assigneeId` to pick the least-loaded matching team profile. Infer stripe, github, linear, billing, or inbox from the subject when `topics` are omitted.
4. Call `list_team_members` when you need a specific person.

## What not to do

- Do not create a second task for a thread that already has one — the from-thread tool returns the existing row.
- Do not treat tasks as tickets in a helpdesk product. They are inbox work items.
