# Stack Exchange Discourse

## Why Stack Exchange

Discourse is problem-shaped: people post when something is broken or confusing. Excellent for surfacing failure modes, undocumented quirks, and recurring pain points in libraries, APIs, and infrastructure tools.

## Lookup approach (stub)

- Stack Exchange API: `https://api.stackexchange.com/2.3/search/advanced`
- Site selection by topic: stackoverflow (code), serverfault (sysadmin), superuser (consumer tech), dba (databases), security
- Volume of questions on a topic = pain signal, not just popularity signal
- Read accepted answers AND highly-voted alternatives — accepted ≠ best
