# Delete

This is a human-facing skill.

Use it when the user wants to delete:

- a top-level skill
- a nested file inside a skill directory
- obsolete references or resources under a skill

## Purpose

Remove obsolete skill surface or nested resources deliberately and with explicit confirmation.

Hard deletion is allowed only when the user explicitly asks for deletion.

## Inputs

- target skill or nested file
- reason for deletion
- scope of what should be removed
- constraints or safety concerns

## Outputs

- clarified deletion scope
- approved deletion plan
- deleted skill or nested resource
- verification evidence
- short debrief with any Darwin learning

## Dependencies

- `using-darwin`
- `verification-before-completion`
- `debrief-and-learn`

## Failure Modes

- deleting more than the user requested
- deleting a top-level skill when only a nested resource should be removed
- removing references without checking adjacent skill files
- implementation starts before explicit approval
- verification is skipped after deletion

## Verification

- confirm the exact deletion target before acting
- confirm hard deletion was explicitly requested
- remove the smallest scope needed
- read the surrounding files after deletion to confirm no unintended leftovers remain in the verified scope

## Clarification Rule

Ask at most 3 clarifying questions before presenting a plan.

Questions should focus on:

- exact deletion target
- whether the user wants hard deletion
- whether the target is a top-level skill or a nested resource

## Planning Rule

After clarification, present a concise plan that includes:

- what will be deleted
- why that scope is correct
- any adjacent references that should be checked
- how the result will be verified

## Approval Rule

Do not delete files until the user explicitly approves the plan.

## Output To The User

Keep the interaction simple:

- a small number of clarifying questions
- a clear plan to approve or reject
- concise progress updates
- a short summary of what was deleted and why
