# Documentation Research Skill

## Overview
This skill finds and prioritizes learning resources for study plan topics using a tiered hierarchy that favors official documentation over supplementary materials.

## Resource Priority Hierarchy

| Priority | Resource Type | Rationale | Agent Behavior |
|----------|--------------|-----------|----------------|
| **1 (Highest)** | Official documentation & language manuals | Primary, authoritative, regularly updated | Query documentation sources first; attach direct links to study tasks |
| **2** | Books & formal e-learning | Comprehensive coverage, expert authorship | Search for recommended titles; include chapter-level references |
| **3** | Videos, tutorials, free online courses | Supplemental for practical demonstrations | Used only when official docs lack worked examples |
| **4 (Lowest)** | Academic papers | Niche/advanced topics, theoretical foundations | Only for ML/LLMOps research topics |

## Documentation Source Routing

### Microsoft Ecosystem Topics
| Topic Area | Primary Source | How to Query |
|-----------|---------------|--------------|
| Azure, .NET, M365 | Microsoft Learn (`learn.microsoft.com`) | WorkIQ or web search |
| Power Platform | Microsoft Learn | WorkIQ or web search |
| Databricks on Azure | Databricks docs (`docs.databricks.com`) + Microsoft Learn | Web search |
| GitHub / Copilot | GitHub Docs (`docs.github.com`) | Web search |
| VS Code | VS Code docs (`code.visualstudio.com`) | Web search |

### Non-Microsoft Topics
| Topic Area | Primary Source | How to Query |
|-----------|---------------|--------------|
| Rust | The Rust Book (`doc.rust-lang.org`) | Web search |
| Go | Go Documentation (`go.dev/doc`) | Web search |
| Python / ML | Python docs, scikit-learn, PyTorch docs | Web search |
| Kubernetes | Kubernetes docs (`kubernetes.io/docs`) | Web search |
| Terraform | Terraform docs (`developer.hashicorp.com`) | Web search |

## Resource Output Format

For each study topic, provide resources in this format:

```markdown
### Resources for [Topic Name]
**📖 Official Documentation**
- [Title](URL) — Chapter/section relevant to this topic
**📚 Books (if applicable)**
- "Book Title" by Author — Chapter X: [Specific Chapter]
**🎥 Videos/Courses (supplementary)**
- [Course Name](URL) — Module: [Specific Module]
**🔗 Practice Labs**
- [Lab Name](URL) — Hands-on exercise for this topic
```

## Certification-Specific Resources

### Microsoft Certifications
- Always include the official Microsoft Learn path
- Link to the exam skills outline (official PDF)
- Suggest Microsoft Learn sandbox/labs
- Include practice assessment links
- Check O'Reilly for exam prep books

### Databricks Certifications
- Official Databricks Academy courses
- Databricks documentation sections
- Community notebooks and examples
- Partner training materials

## Research Workflow

1. **Identify the topic** and its ecosystem (Microsoft, Rust, Go, ML, etc.)
2. **Query primary sources** using appropriate routing
3. **Find 2–3 official doc links** with specific sections/pages
4. **Search for recommended books** with chapter-level precision
5. **Add supplementary videos** only if official docs lack practical examples
6. **For certifications**: Include official exam prep materials, practice tests, and Learn paths
7. **Attach resources** to the study plan's topic table

## Integration Points
- **Study Planning skill**: Provides resources for each topic in the phase table
- **Study Scheduler agent**: Attaches resources to study session calendar events
- **O'Reilly search**: Use O'Reilly content discovery for book recommendations when available
