# Advisory Update Every value must come from a source read in this session. ## Sources, in priority order 1. The incident page and its JSON lists (affected intermediates, roots, fingerprints) 2. discuss.python.org security announcements; CPython release notes 3. PyPI release pages for pip, certifi, uv (versions, upload dates, wheel SHA-256) 4. Distro security trackers for ca-certificates / python3-pip / python3-certifi ## Steps 1. Update `advisories/emudhra-2026-10.env` (or copy it for a new incident): fixed versions, `PIP_WHEEL_URL`/`PIP_WHEEL_SHA256` and certifi equivalents (from PyPI's JSON API), `BAD_ROOTS` / `CROSS_SIGN_ROOTS` / `BAD_INTERMEDIATES` as `SHA256:name` pairs separated by `|`, `TEST_HOSTS`, `NOTES`, `SOURCES`, `LAST_VERIFIED`. 2. Validate against real files: download an old and a fixed certifi wheel and run `pycert-scan.py --bundle <old cacert.pem> --bundle <new cacert.pem>`: expect AFFECTED then OK. 3. Show the user the diff and sources. Keep old advisory files. Never take a fingerprint or hash from anywhere but the primary source.
