# Visual explainer
Begin with the learner's mental model. Choose visual representations that make the subject intuitive; decide when to evolve a representation or introduce another. Use labelled SVG for diagrams and Canvas for dense simulations. Prefer sliders and step controls over autoplay. Label quantities and units; explain what is simplified. Show before/after states and a visible textual explanation of the changed state. Keep controls keyboard accessible and provide a textual alternative. Use restrained motion and honor prefers-reduced-motion. Weave graphics into and alongside the reading flow, breaking up heavy passages with meaningful visual explanations. Choose static visuals, animation or interaction according to what helps the learner understand; no fixed number or sequence is required. Test control changes and visible outcomes.
