# UX standards

## Every screen and component defines
- Loading, empty, error and success states, with copy for each.
- What happens on slow networks (skeletons after <300 ms>, timeouts after <10 s> with retry).
- Keyboard path and screen-reader announcements for every interaction.

## Accessibility
- Conform to <WCAG 2.2 AA>. Colour is never the only carrier of meaning.
- Touch targets <44x44 px>; focus order follows reading order; no keyboard traps.
- Forms: labels always visible, errors inline and announced, no placeholder-as-label.

## Flows
- Prefer progressive disclosure over modals; confirm only destructive or irreversible actions.
- Never block the primary task for secondary asks (surveys, upsells, cookie banners beyond legal need).
- Preserve user input on error; never make people re-enter data.

## Content
- One primary action per screen. Buttons say what they do ("Save changes", not "OK").
- Dates, money and numbers use the user's locale via <the i18n layer>.

## How to apply
- spec.md "User experience" lists states, keyboard path and accessibility notes per component.
- Build (`/sdlc:build`, `/sdlc:verify --ui`) compares screenshots against the approved mock and these states.
- In review, missing states or accessibility failures are **Important**.
