# /telegram-notify:status Determine the state with one Bash call: ```bash [ -f ~/.claude/notify-off ] && echo "MUTED" [ -f ~/.claude/notify-on ] && echo "ON" grep -q '^TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN=...' ~/.claude/telegram-notify.env 2>/dev/null || echo "NO CONFIG" grep -E '^(NOTIFY_WHEN|AWAY_IDLE_SECONDS)=' ~/.claude/telegram-notify.env 2>/dev/null || echo "mode: manual (default)" ``` Report in two lines or fewer: - State: **MUTED** (notify-off wins over everything) / **ON** / **OFF**. A minimal config (token + chat id only) is normal — absent `NOTIFY_WHEN` line simply means the manual default; `"auto"`/`"always"` change what OFF means (idle-detection / every event). - Only if `NO CONFIG` (no non-empty token line): notifications aren't set up — point them to `/telegram-notify:setup`.
