Tools (4)

Read from the source code; the running server may differ. Descriptions are the server’s own words; hidden characters are shown as [U+…].

  • audit_dependencies_live

Checks every dependency in a package.json against the live npm registry (first 40, in parallel) and returns only the ones that need attention, ranked by risk, plus the list that looked clean. Combine with audit_package_json for the static checks.

  • audit_package_json

Audits a package.json for real npm supply-chain risks: dependency names that closely resemble (1-2 character edit distance) one of the most-depended-on packages in the registry (typosquatting), preinstall/install/postinstall scripts that pipe a remote download into a shell or contain an obfuscated base64-decoded payload (the actual mechanism behind real incidents like event-stream and ua-parser-js), and dependencies with no real version constraint (`*` or `latest`).

  • check_package_name

Focused check: given a single package name, checks whether it closely resembles (within 1-2 character edit distance) one of the most-depended-on packages in the npm registry, without needing a full package.json.

  • inspect_package_live

Looks a package up on the live npm registry and returns age, weekly downloads, maintainers, install scripts and ranked risk flags. Catches what static checks cannot: a package name that does not exist (often hallucinated by an AI assistant and later registered by an attacker), brand-new low-traffic packages, install scripts on young packages, deprecated releases and typosquats. Run it before an agent installs a dependency.
