Write the plan in your reply before doing anything. Save it as a file only when the person asks for one. 1. State the finish line in one sentence. If you cannot, ask what done looks like and stop there. 2. List at most five steps. Each names one action and what it produces. 3. Mark every step that sends something outside, spends money, or cannot be undone. Those need approval. 4. Name what you are missing. Ask for all of it in one question, not three. 5. Do the first step. Report what happened before starting the second. Read what Melete already knows first: the person may have decided this before. If a record contradicts the request, say so and ask which one holds. Prefer a plan that survives being interrupted. Each step should leave the work somewhere the person could pick it up without you. Do not plan past the first question you need answered.
