# Contour Development
**Required: this skill depends on the `kind` and `runagent` skills. Load the `kind` and `runagent` skills together with this one, every time, even if the task is only to read this skill.**
Verify working directory before any task:
```bash
test -f go.mod && grep -q 'module github.com/projectcontour/contour' go.mod && echo "OK" || echo "NOT in Contour root"
```
---
## Kind Cluster
Create and access cluster `contour` at `127.0.0.101`, hostnames `*.127-0-0-101.nip.io`. `HOST_IP` below is the host as seen from pods.
Install Contour:
```bash
kubectl apply -f https://projectcontour.io/quickstart/contour.yaml
kubectl -n projectcontour wait --for=condition=available --timeout=300s deployment/contour
kubectl -n projectcontour wait --for=condition=ready --timeout=300s pod -l app=envoy
```
To use the latest unreleased development build from `main` branch use
```bash
kubectl apply -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/projectcontour/contour/main/examples/render/contour.yaml
```
---
## Deploy Echoserver
Use [Echoserver](https://github.com/tsaarni/echoserver) as upstream / backedn service.

## Run Contour from Source on Host Against Kind Cluster
Point Service `contour` in namespace `projectcontour`, port `8001`, at the host so Envoy connects to Contour running there. This replaces the in-cluster Service.From tsaarni/agent-skills, Apache-2.0.
