# Git Commit Discipline

## Procedure

1. Run `git-bible.mjs repo-check`.
2. Inspect unstaged and staged paths.
3. Stage exact files with `git add -- <path>`.
4. Review `git diff --cached --stat` and `git diff --cached`.
5. Commit with Conventional Commit format.

## Rules

- Avoid `git add .` unless the user explicitly wants a broad commit and the dirty state is fully understood.
- Do not stage unrelated user edits.
- Keep commit subject under 72 characters.
- Use `type(scope): subject` or `type: subject`.

## Hook

The optional `commit-msg` hook validates the configured pattern from `.git-bible.json`.
