# Refactor code

Read [refactoring procedure](references/refactor.md), project AGENTS.md, callers, and relevant tests. Establish a baseline and preserve values, types, errors, side effects, and compatibility. Record discovered bugs separately; continue independent safe work. Report evidence and limits rather than claiming universal equivalence.
