# YouTube earnings estimate

Formula:

- Estimated earnings = views ÷ 1,000 × RPM
- Earnings per view = RPM ÷ 1,000

RPM is the creator's revenue per 1,000 views in USD, after YouTube's share. It is not CPM, which is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions.

## Steps

1. Get the view count and the RPM. The RPM is in the user's YouTube Analytics, under Revenue.
2. If the user has no RPM, do not present one as a YouTube figure. Show the result at a few RPM values (for example $1, $3, and $10) and label them as assumptions.
3. Show the earnings, the per-view amount, and the inputs used. Example: 100,000 views at $3.00 RPM is $300.00, or $0.0030 per view.

Say that this is an estimate. RPM changes with niche, viewer country, season, and video length, and a channel earns ad revenue only after it joins the YouTube Partner Program.
