# Poietic Harness session start

Run once per session, combining global and project invocations.

- For an existing installation or toolkit checkout, follow [routine checks](knowledge/checking.md).
- Only when the personal installation is missing, follow [initial setup](knowledge/bootstrap.md).

Preserve pins and local expertise. Startup does not authorize upgrades or inference.
Report actionable mismatches, unavailable checks, or completed first-time setup;
otherwise continue the user's task. Consult the [knowledge index](knowledge/INDEX.md)
and [memory index](memory/INDEX.md) only for relevant additional context.
