# PDF Skill Create new PDFs and manipulate existing ones. ## Setup ```bash pip install pypdf reportlab ``` ## Merging PDFs Use `pypdf.PdfWriter`, append each input file in order, and write the merged result to a new file. ## Splitting a PDF Read the source with `PdfReader`, then write each page (or page range) to its own `PdfWriter` output. ## Extracting text Call `page.extract_text()` per page. For scanned documents this returns empty text — tell the user OCR is needed rather than returning blank output. ## Output format Write results next to the input file unless the user names a destination.
