# Handoff

Produce a handoff message in the chat. Do not create, save, or modify files for the handoff, and do not write it to the OS temp directory.

## Workflow

1. Identify the next-session focus. If the invocation includes arguments, treat them as the focus and tailor the handoff to that work. If no focus is given, infer it from the latest user request and active task.
2. Summarize only context needed for a fresh agent to continue: goal, current state, decisions made, constraints, material commands run, verification status, blockers, and next steps.
3. Reference existing artifacts by path, branch, commit, issue, PR, URL, or command output summary. Do not duplicate content already stored in PRDs, plans, ADRs, issues, commits, diffs, generated docs, or other artifacts, unless the receiving agent cannot access that artifact; then include only the essential part.
4. Redact sensitive information, including API keys, tokens, passwords, secrets, credentials, private keys, authentication session IDs, personal contact data, and irrelevant PII. Preserve a non-secret continuation or job ID when the next agent needs it; an ID that grants access is a credential. Replace sensitive values with `[REDACTED]` or a short label such as `[API key redacted]`.
5. Include a "Suggested skills" section. Name skills the next agent should invoke and briefly state why. Use only skills that appear relevant from the conversation or environment. If none are needed, say "None identified."
6. End with the exact next action the next agent should take.

## Output format

Reply in chat with a compact Markdown handoff. Use headings that fit the situation, usually:

- Focus
- Current state
- Important context
- Artifacts to read
- Suggested skills
- Risks or blockers
- Next steps

Prefer specific file paths, commands, and dates over broad narrative. Do not mention that a handoff file was saved unless an existing artifact genuinely was created earlier in the conversation.
