“refactoring”

Incremental code refactoring using Tidy First?

Refactors a file for clarity, performance, and correctness.

Skill bundle for phil:refactor-loop command — gated closed-loop refactoring with a separate proposer and correctness critic, hard test gates, and a DAG ledger

Analyze code for maintainability improvements, prioritize refactors, and avoid behavior changes or unnecessary abstractions.

Refactor behavior-preserving code with tests and incremental changes.

Reviews and fixes code smells, design principles, maintainability, over-engineering.

Refactor code for clarity, idiomatic style, and correctness

Fowler-based refactoring and enterprise patterns.

Catalog of code smells and refactoring techniques.

Safely improve code structure without changing behavior using disciplined refactoring techniques.

Use when refactoring code to improve structure, reduce duplication, and apply SRP/DRY principles without changing behavior.

Use when reviewing or refactoring Python code.

Orchestrates safe, large-scale structural changes across a codebase — symbol renames, API migrations, pattern standardizations, layer restructurings.

Apply this skill whenever the user asks to refactor, clean up, restructure, or improve existing code — regardless of language or framework.

Skill bundle for phil:refactor-tests command — human-approved, structure-only test refactoring loop

Safe refactoring techniques — extract method, rename, move, inline, and structural patterns.

Refactoring & optimization.

Apply the refactoring catalog (Fowler, Beck Tidy First, Feathers legacy techniques) to existing code.

Scan branch changes for code smells and aggressively refactor to remove them using Martin Fowler-style techniques.

Systematic refactoring workflow.

Analyze a file, function, component, module, feature, or topic and produce a detailed refactor and optimization plan using project code-generation criteria.

Enter the REFACTOR phase — behavior-preserving structural improvement with zero new tests, protected by the green suite.

Perform bulk code refactoring operations like renaming variables/functions across files, replacing patterns, and updating API calls.

Intelligent refactoring with LSP, AST-grep, parallel codebase analysis, test assessment, plan generation, and continuous verification.
