How to install in Claude Code

claude mcp add <name> -- npx -y <package>
claude mcp add --transport http <name> <https://server-url>

Where it goes: ~/.claude.json (just you), or .mcp.json in the project when you add --scope project.

Put -- between the name and the server command so the command's own flags are not read as Claude's. --env takes several KEY=value pairs, so another option has to sit between the last --env and the name (the CLI otherwise reads the name as a pair). --scope user makes the server available in every project; the default scope (local) keeps it to you in this project. Run /mcp inside Claude Code, or claude mcp list, to check it is connected.
