Tools (9)

Read from the source code; the running server may differ. Descriptions are the server’s own words; hidden characters are shown as [U+…].

  • get_artifact

Use this to read what an artifact contains before revising it, answering it, or summarising it: the pushed source of the latest version or a pinned one. HTML and Markdown come back inline as `content`; PDFs and images are saved to `save_to` and the path is returned. Works with a link the user pastes, including artifacts shared with them or public ones.

  • list_artifact_comments

Use this to pull review feedback, replies, and resolved state from an artifact the user can view. Returns author, quote or marked region, and the version each comment refers to.

  • list_artifact_responses

Use this to read answers people gave in a page's Inputs (thing:inputs collections). Publishers and editors see everyone's latest answers with names; pass mine to read only the user's own. Returns every page of results.

  • list_artifact_versions

Use this to see an artifact's version history (number, size, date) and whether the user may push to it (`access`: editor or viewer).

  • list_artifacts

Use this to find a link the user published earlier, or to check whether something is already published before pushing it again. Lists artifacts the signed-in user can see, with team, visibility, title and labels. Filter by label or search, sort by created or updated time, and page with limit and offset.

  • push_artifact

Use this whenever the user wants to share, send, show, or publish something you produced: a report, a dashboard, a prototype, a Markdown doc, a PDF, an image. Publishes it to a durable URL that stays live, and returns the link. Pushing the same name again creates a new version at the same link rather than a second link, so prefer reusing a name over inventing one. Pass either `path` (html, md, pdf, png, jpg, gif, webp) or inline `content` with a `filename` (html or md). If the page collects answers or signs people in, read https://usething.ai/html-api.txt first, and act on any `notes` in the r…

  • server_info

Reports the installed Thing MCP version and whether the Thing server recommends or requires an update. This tool remains available when other tools require a newer client.

  • submit_artifact_response

Use this only when the user asks you to answer a page's Inputs for them. Saves `data` to a collection the page declares, recorded as the signed-in user, on the latest version or the one given. Read the page with get_artifact first to learn the collection names and the fields it expects.

  • whoami

Use this to confirm the user is signed in and which team will own a new artifact. Shows the account, the server, and where pushes land when no team is named.
