  • get_changed_files

    List all changed files in a git repository (staged, unstaged, and untracked). Returns structured JSON and a markdown table.

  • get_word_count

    Count words, characters, lines, and estimated tokens in markdown content. Returns structured JSON with word_count, char_count, line_count, and estimated_token_count (approximated as ceil(char_count / 4)).

  • lint_content

    Lint raw markdown content using MarkView's built-in linter. Returns line-by-line diagnostics (warnings and errors) for 9 rules: inconsistent-headings, trailing-whitespace, missing-blank-lines, duplicate-headings, broken-links, unclosed-fences, unclosed-formatting, mismatched-brackets, invalid-tables. Unlike lint_file, no file path is required — pass content directly.

  • lint_file

    Lint a markdown file using MarkView's built-in linter. Returns line-by-line diagnostics (warnings and errors) for 9 rules: inconsistent-headings, trailing-whitespace, missing-blank-lines, duplicate-headings, broken-links, unclosed-fences, unclosed-formatting, mismatched-brackets, invalid-tables.

  • open_file

    Open an existing markdown file from disk in MarkView. The file must exist and have a markdown extension (.md, .markdown).

  • outline

    Extract the heading tree from markdown content. Returns a JSON array of headings with their level (1–6), text, and 1-based line number. Useful for navigating large documents or verifying document structure.

  • preview_markdown

    Render a markdown string in MarkView's native macOS preview window. Supports GFM, Mermaid diagrams, code syntax highlighting (Prism.js), tables, task lists, and all CommonMark extensions.

  • render_diff_file

    Run git diff on a repository and render the output in MarkView with diff2html syntax highlighting. Supports side-by-side and line-by-line views.

  • render_diff_raw

    Render a raw unified diff string in MarkView with diff2html syntax highlighting. Pass the output of 'git diff' or any unified diff directly.
