Tools (31)

Read from the source code; the running server may differ. Descriptions are the server’s own words; hidden characters are shown as [U+…].

  • copy_file

Copy a file from source to destination. Same-bucket copies use a server-side copy (efficient). Cross-bucket copies download then re-upload the content.

  • create_directory

    Create a directory (writes a zero-byte trailing-slash object).

  • delete_file

Permanently delete a file. This tool is only available when the server is started with --enable-delete.

  • directory_tree

Return a recursive tree of all objects under a path. Supports glob excludePatterns.

  • edit_file

Apply text edits to a file. Each edit replaces oldText with newText. Use dryRun to preview. Optionally pass expected_etag for optimistic concurrency control.

  • get_file_info

Get metadata for a file: size, last modified, content type.

  • get_file_schema

Extract structural schema from a file without returning its full contents. For CSV: returns column names, inferred types, sample values, and row count. For JSON: returns root type, keys, element count, and value shapes. For other text: returns line count and size. Use this before reading a file to understand its structure.

  • get_object_metadataGet Object Metadata

Get cloud-native metadata and tags for an object (content-type, custom headers, tags).

  • get_presigned_url

Generate a temporary, authenticated HTTPS URL for a cloud object. The URL grants time-limited access without exposing credentials. Use 'get' for download URLs, 'put' for upload URLs. Maximum validity is 24 hours (86400 seconds). Supported providers: S3, Azure, GCS.

  • grep_file

Search a single file for lines matching a regular expression. Returns matching lines prefixed with their 1-based line number (e.g. '42:matched line').

  • grep_files

    Description is built at runtime.

  • list_allowed_directories

Return the list of allowed root URIs configured for this server.

  • list_directory

List directory contents. Returns [FILE] and [DIR] prefixed entries.

  • list_directory_with_sizes

List directory contents with sizes. Sortable by name (default) or size.

  • list_versionsList Object Versions

List version history for a cloud object. Requires versioning-enabled bucket.

Show 16 more tools
  • move_file

Move a file from source to destination. Both paths must be within allowed roots.

  • patch_file

Apply a patch to a file atomically. Supports unified diff format (standard @@ hunks) and line_replace format (startLine:endLine followed by replacement). Combines read + transform + write in a single tool call. Optionally pass expected_etag for concurrency safety.

  • read_file

Read the complete contents of a file (UTF-8). Deprecated alias for read_text_file.

  • read_file_chunk

Read a byte range from a file without downloading the entire object. Uses the cloud provider's native byte-range support for efficient partial reads. Returns file size metadata alongside the content.

  • read_file_range

Read a slice of a text file by line range. offset is 1-based (offset=1 means the first line). Returns the requested lines together with a header showing the range and total line count.

  • read_media_file

Read a binary/media file and return its base64-encoded contents.

  • read_multiple_files

Read multiple files. Returns per-file results; individual errors do not fail the call.

  • read_text_file

Read a text file. Optionally read only the first `head` or last `tail` lines.

  • restore_versionRestore Object Version

Restore a previous version of a cloud object. Copies the old version content over the current one.

  • search_by_tagSearch by Tag

Find objects matching tag filters under a path. Uses AND logic for multiple tag filters.

  • search_files

Search for files matching a glob pattern under a path. Supports excludePatterns.

  • set_object_tagsSet Object Tags

Set or update tags on a cloud object. Replaces all existing tags with the provided ones.

  • shell

    Description is built at runtime.

  • shell_appInteractive Shell (UI)

Opens an interactive terminal UI for executing cloud-fs shell commands. Supports ls, cat, grep, find, and 13 more POSIX-like commands with piping (|) and redirection (>, >>).

  • summarize_file

Get a compact summary of a file: size, line count, content type, first N lines (head), and last 5 lines (tail). Use this to quickly understand a file without loading it entirely.

  • write_file

Write content to a file, creating it if it does not exist.
