  • addZooms

  • createCheckpoint

Save the current state of the project and return its checkpointId. Changes nothing. Call it before a series of edits so restoreCheckpoint can revert all of them in one step.

  • createProject

    Description is built at runtime.

  • duplicateClip

    Description is built at runtime.

  • exportVideo

Render a project to an MP4 (H.264) or a GIF with OpenScreen's compositor: the background, cursor, zooms, cuts, speed changes and annotations as edited. Returns the file's path; call getFrames with the projectId to check it at the ruler seconds you edited with. The video's shape follows the project's format (setAspectRatio). The options are the Export dialog's: quality and fps for an MP4; gifFrameRate, gifSize and gifLoop for a GIF.

  • importMedia

Add a video or audio file from disk to the project's media, as the editor's Import does. It does not place it on the timeline. An audio file is then played by a track you lay with addAudio. A video becomes the project's footage when it has none yet (a project createProject made without a video): replaceTimeline then lays it out. Returns the new assetId and the file's durationSec, null when OpenScreen could not read it (the editor reads it again when it opens the project).

  • insertClip

    Description is built at runtime.

  • listProjectsread-only

List every OpenScreen project: id, title, last update, asset count, and `open`: whether the OpenScreen editor has it open, in which case an edit to it goes through the editor, shows there live and the user can undo it with Ctrl/Cmd+Z. Pass a project's id as `projectId` to any other tool to read or edit that project.

  • listSourcesread-only

List the displays and windows OpenScreen can record, the microphones and the cameras. Pass startRecording a display's index or part of a window's title, and part of a microphone's or a camera's name. microphoneLabelsUnavailable or cameraLabelsUnavailable true means their names need a permission the user has not granted, so the list is empty: ask the user to allow it. Windows that are minimized, hidden, on another desktop or Space, or behind a full-screen app are not listed: bring a window on screen to record it.

  • moveClip

  • putCaptionTranslation

    Description is built at runtime.

  • removeCaptionTranslation

    Description is built at runtime.

  • removeClip

    Description is built at runtime.

  • removeMediacan change or delete data

Remove a file from the project's media. Refused while the timeline still uses it: remove its clips (removeClip) and its audio tracks (removeModifier) first. The file on disk is left alone.

  • removeModifier

  • setPointerTrackcan change or delete data

For a take driven by a script (Playwright, CDP, a browser extension) rather than the real mouse: the screen pointer never moved, so the video has no cursor and no zoom. Give the pointer's path here and OpenScreen draws it, gliding between your actions, and zooms on its clicks as for a real mouse. It replaces the pointer recorded with the take, then plans zooms on the new clicks as stopRecording does, clear of the zooms already there; autoZoomsAdded says how many. Only for a take recorded by this server. It is an edit like any other: on a project that is not open in the editor it needs a checkp…

  • setProjectInfo

Rename the project: its title in OpenScreen's project list and in the editor's top bar, as renaming it there does. Changes nothing else.

  • setSpeed

    Description is built at runtime.

  • setTrim

    Description is built at runtime.

  • setVocabulary

    Description is built at runtime.

  • stopRecording

    Description is built at runtime.

  • transcribe

Transcribe one asset's speech with OpenScreen's on-device Whisper, as the editor does when it opens a project, and store the transcript in the project: getTranscript, getTranscriptWords, setWordText, removeWords and the captions all read it. A take from stopRecording has none until this runs. Without `language`, an asset that already has a transcript keeps it, and a transcription the editor is already running is waited for rather than run twice; with `language`, the asset is transcribed again in it (a run of the editor already in that language is waited for instead), and the word corrections t…
