analyze_recipeAnalyze a full recipe — servings plus one ingredient line per food (e.g. ["200g chicken breast", "1 tbsp olive oil"]) — into total and per-serving nutrition. The most expensive and slowest tool: LLM-backed, 10 credits per ingredient line (up to 50 lines, so up to 500 credits per call), latency scales with ingredient count (~2-5s typical). Use parse_nutrition instead for independent items or short meal logging where you do not need recipe totals.
batch_get_foodsFetch full nutrient detail for up to 50 food ids in a single call — use this instead of calling get_food in a loop. 1 credit per id (e.g. 10 ids = 10 credits). Results are returned in input order; unknown ids come back as null in the corresponding position. Fast (~300ms typical).
get_foodFetch the full nutrient and portion profile for a single food by its Forkbit id (as returned by search_foods or batch_get_foods). 1 credit per call, fast (~200ms typical).
parse_nutritionParse a free-text food or meal description (e.g. "2 eggs and a slice of toast with butter") into matched Forkbit foods with calculated nutrition. Use this instead of search_foods when the input is natural language rather than a single food name, and instead of analyze_recipe when the items are independent servings rather than a single dish (no totals are computed). LLM-backed: 10 credits per call, slower than search (~1-3s typical). Partial or zero matches are still a successful call — check the returned status.
search_foodsSearch the Forkbit food database by name (e.g. "chicken breast", "banana"). Returns lightweight food summaries with a Forkbit id, name, category, and headline nutrients — use get_food or batch_get_foods for full nutrient/portion detail. 1 credit per call, fast (~200ms typical). Supports pagination (page/limit) and filtering by Forkbit category slug (e.g. "fruits", "dairy_eggs", "seafood"). Not for natural-language descriptions like "2 slices of toast with butter" — use parse_nutrition for that.
