  • connect_dbConnect to a different database

    Switch the server to a different PostgreSQL database at runtime, replacing the current connection. Only use this when the user explicitly asks to connect elsewhere or the configured connection fails - normal operation uses the connection from the environment. Read-only mode and the statement timeout are re-applied to the new connection. Returns {message, host, database}.

  • describe_tableDescribe a tableread-only

    Show the structure of one table: column names, data types, nullability, defaults, and primary-key membership. Call this before writing non-trivial queries against a table. Returns {columns: [{column, type, nullable, default, is_primary_key}, ...]}.

  • executecan change or delete data

    Description is built at runtime.

  • list_schemasList schemasread-only

    List every schema in the connected database. Start here when exploring an unfamiliar database, then call list_tables for the schema you care about. Returns {schemas: [name, ...]}.

  • list_tablesList tablesread-only

    List all tables in a schema (default: 'public'). Use this before querying tables you have not seen yet, then call describe_table for column details. Returns {tables: [name, ...]}.

  • query

    Description is built at runtime.
